This story
could have been told in half the time but Ms. French likes to string out her
stories endlessly. But she is a good
writer and tells a great story with lots of characters and in this case,
suspects, about who killed Chris Harper.
It all begins at St. Kilda’s School and follows the story of Holly and
her mates. Holly is also the daughter of
Detective Mackey who we met in French’s The Likeness so his presence is significant
in how the other detectives run the investigation. The reviewer says it is a “powerful, haunting
exploration of friendship and loyalty, and a gripping addition to French’s
Dublin Murder Squad series.” My opinion? Too daunting.
